The WellDiggers
The WellDiggers are a New York based alt-country, roots-rock band founded and fronted by singer/songwriter, guitarist, Steve Welner. Along with Steve, the band features Rich Lanahan (lead guitar), Mike "Hombre" Meehan (bass), and Mike Leuci (drums).  Other musicians that perform and record with the band include Jack Gabis, Don Gabis, Eric Peters, and Rob Stein. Their latest album, Hope and Fear (2012) has received excellent reviews and has been selected as one of the top albums of the year by Austrailian DJ, Colin Fielding 31NR (96.5) and "American Roots UK's", Mike Morrison.  Musically, The WellDiggers run the gamut from traditional folk, country blues, and bluegrass, to twangin' full throttle electric rock.  Steve was nominated as one of the top 5 songwriters to the Austin, Tx based, "Freeform American Roots" (FAR) charts in 2008 for the album, "Stole Away, The Billy Sessions".  Some of the artists that they have shared the stage, or recorded with include Pete Seeger, Levon Helm, Graham Parker, Peter Rowan, Eric "Roscoe" Ambel (Steve Earle, Del Lords), The Silos, Marah, Chip Robinson (Backsliders), Keith Christopher (Georgia Satellites), and Rob Arthur (Peter Frampton); to name a few.
